1. 86% OF COMPANIES RECOUPED THEIR INVESTMENT
In the ICF Global Coaching Client Study, 86% of companies that could calculate ROI reported at least making back their investment in coaching. The study surveyed more than 2,000 coaching clients across 64 countries.
2. 700% MEDIAN COMPANY ROI
Among companies able to quantify financial results, the same ICF study reported a median company ROI of 700%—about $7 returned for every $1 invested. This was self-reported ROI, so it should be presented as a study finding rather than a guaranteed result.
3. 70% REPORTED IMPROVED WORK PERFORMANCE
ICF client-study findings reported 70% improved work performance, while 61% reported improved business management and 51% improved team effectiveness following coaching.
4. ONE EXECUTIVE-COACHING CASE STUDY REPORTED 788% ROI
A MetrixGlobal study of a Fortune 500 company's coaching program calculated a 529% ROI from coaching, increasing to 788% when estimated employee-retention benefits were included. Because this was one company and a relatively small study, it's best used as an example of coaching's potential—not an industry-wide average.
5. BUSINESSES ARE INCREASINGLY PAYING FOR COACHING
The 2025 ICF Global Coaching Study, conducted with PwC, found that more than half of coaching clients are employer-sponsored. The global coaching profession has grown to an estimated $5.34 billion annually, reflecting significant organizational investment in coaching as a leadership-development strategy.
